Yes Day! Boost confidence and have fun for dyslexic kids

Help a dyslexic child grow in confidence andย independenceย by hosting a ‘Yesย Day.’ย

This is a day when the child plans the activities. Letting the child take charge builds their:

  • leadership skills
  • sense of responsibility
  • confidence
  • independence

Dyslexic children often find it hard to understand instructions. Putting them in charge of organising activities can make the child feel more:

  • in control
  • engaged
  • trusted
  • respected

Encourage independence dyslexia

The Dyslexic Mum shares how giving her child more freedom helped her to become more responsible:

Have you watched the film “Yes Day”? My girls loved it. In the film, the family has a day where the children decide what to do.ย The parents can not say no, leading to many funny situations. By the end, the family has bonded, and the children feel valued by their parents.

As a mum, it can feel like I should do things for my child when she struggles. But it is the opposite. Giving children more freedom and responsibility helps them feel important and encourages them to try their best.

I designed the ‘Yes Day’ card below to help you have fun and to give your child a chance to take charge for the day.”

When using the ‘Yes Day’ card above use the follow top tips from the Dyslexic Mum:

  • Nature Born Leaders – Dyslexic children are more likely to become self-made millionaires. They are natural entrepreneurs and leaders. A “Yes Day” helps them demonstrate their abilities and boosts their confidence. โ€
  • Helicopter Parenting – It is easy to over-parent a child. You might want to solve all their problems. However, protecting them from life’s challenges can make them feel trapped. This may lead to rebellion and poor decisions. โ€
  • Family Bonding – Letting your child take charge on “Yes Day” allows them to make choices. Succeeding or failing shows you trust them. This helps the child feel valued, respected, and builds their trust in you.
