School Time-Table Card

Get organised dyslexia
Learn below how the dyslexic mum struggled to help her dyslexic child to get organised:
“Children do many activities at school, P.E, music practice, cooking lessons and swimming. It is so hard to remember everything they need to bring.
I wanted to help my dyslexic child become more independent and able to pack her own school bag. To support her, we made a picture timetable to help her remember what she needs to bring to school each day.”
Watch the clickable video below, ‘Get Organised’. Where the Dyslexic Mum demonstrates how to make a picture timetable:
Use the ‘School Time-table’ card to make a picture timetable. Below are tips about how to use the card to best help the child:
- Match Pictures to Subjects โ If your child has music on Monday, write ‘Music’ on the timetable and draw a picture of a musical instrument.
- Decorate the Timetable โ Use stickers and pictures from magazines to decorate the timetable. Let your child add their own creative touches, like a patterned border.
- Colour-Code the Days โ Assign each day of the week a different colour. For example, write ‘Tuesday’ in blue and ‘Thursday’ in orange.
- Keep It on Display โ Look at the timetable every day when packing the school bag for the next day. Keep it visible at all times, place copies on the fridge, by the front door, or next to the bed.
